Good point Bob.
These cars have two numbers, a chassis or VIN number (VIN wasn't a term that was used then) which is on the documents and the chassis plate in the engine bay. They also have a body number which is on a tag in the door jamb (where the hinges are) and somewhere else that I can't remember.
Nobody has mentioned that the VIN number is NOT the number in the
door jams.
