Actually I purchased a 1977 MG Midget for my wife for a graduation
gift. It really is a nice car and I'm sure we'll have many hours of
enjoyment riding around the country side. But alass, the first
problem has cropped up, or should I say problems. When I tried the
car out the clutch grabbed close to the floorboard. Not a big
problem I thought due to the fact I hadn't driven it before and
wasn't sure what was normal. Within a short period of time and not
much driving it seems that I am having problems shifting into gear
while stopped (engine running). First and reverse grind and then the
engine starts to bog down. Once the vehicle is moving I can up shift
without any problems. But no down shifting is even attempted. I
know this might seem rather simple to many of you but I'm a novice
and could use a little advise. Oh, by the way, the right turn signal
works just fine but the left doesn't flash (is this common and where
should I start). Thanks for all your help and I promise not to be
too much of a pest.
