I read that when the MG Car Co started, the name 'MG' was taken from the
first letters of Morris Garages, but does not actually stand for Morris Garages.
Just like the Foden lorries. One of the brothers had a falling out with the
family, started his own company, and called his lorries 'ERF' (Standing for,
but not meaning, his name, E.R. Foden) Don't remember what names E & R stand
for.
Hope this clears up the query.
