Hi guys,
Whats the best way to re-finish painted wire wheels back to their former
glory?
I know most of you will say - grit/sand blast and epoxy coat them, but that's
too easy and too expensive. When you consider that will pretty much cost 50
GBP per wheel, to be done properly, I can buy a brand new painted wire wheel
for 80GBP, and probably sell the old wire wheels for 10GBP each, so for an
extra 100GBP, I can have a set of brand new painted wire wheels - not very
economic is it.
I am very tempted to push the boat out and buy a set of chrome wire wheels,
but they were not standard on home market Midget/Sprites and regular
readers will know my views on originality.
I'd prefer to strip and paint them myself, but what's the best way to do it? Do
you dismantle them, strip all the splines individually, replacing those
corroded/broken ones and put it back together and paint it?
All opinions appreciated.
