I have a transmission problem, or clutch, and would like some feedback on
what I should look for as the possible problems. It is in the 73 rwa, 1275,
ribcase trans. It was not driven for about a year prior to my purchasing it.
I have trouble shifting into first and reverse most of the time with the
engine running, then for brief periods of time strangely it will shift fine
into first and reverse without any gear noise. I have bled the clutch lines
and it looks like the travel at the slave is enough to disengage the clutch.
No problem shifting into second, third and fourth either with engine running
or not. I can shift into first and reverse when the engine is not running..
I can start the car in first and reverse with the clutch down and have
normal clutch release. Would appreciate feedback. I am prepared to pull the
engine and trans if necessary. Could this be the clutch not disengaging
completely when the engine is running or does this sound like a transmission
problem?
