Hi,
I'm currently speccing out a new car, and trying to decide what's
affordable and what's not so I can keep an eye on prices for a while
and hopefully pick up a good deal when I spot one. It will have to be
a daily driver but I'm also fairly serious about making a start on
sprints and hillclimbs (maybe a few track days too).
As ever, I'm trying to keep the cost down, the budget will be roughly
=A33k.
#1 choice, even above cars well out of that price range, or more
modern cars that might perform better, would be a Frogeye. I think
the answer to my first question is obvious, especially as I want
something I can drive and tweak, not something that will end up in
bits for a couple of years. I can't see 3 grand getting me a good
enough frogeye without a lot of additional work?
So, surely an excellent second choice would be a midget? Hmmm, for
some reason they don't do it for me (it's just personal taste, I know
they're nice little cars), and I had *almost* decided on a Mini if I
can't afford a frog. But, and I am finally getting to the point now,
I was wondering how easy it is to put a frogeye "smile" on a midget?
The lights could stay on the wings even, I'm sure I've seen a picture
of something similar, but can't find it now. If a midget would accept
a frog's rear end bodywork as well it would be an easy favourite,
even over a mini (I want RWD for the track really).
Can it be done, cheaply and easily enough to be a good compromise
between a frogeye and a midget for someone who prefers 60s style to
70s (that's all it amounts to I suppose)?
