You're not kidding!
I had I known then, how much work this car was going to be, I'd never have
=3D=0D
done it. I'd have sold it, and gone out and bought one in the condition I
wanted already done, and simply enjoyed it for what it is.
Unfortunately for me, the longer I had the car, the more 'attached' to it I
=3D=0D
got,
to the point that I couldn't let it go. I knew it was going to need work,
=3D=0D
although I never knew exactly how much work.
I naively, took it in to an MG specialist, near Heathrow I think it was -
Moto-Build, for a quotation for repairing the 'spring hangers' which I was
=3D=0D
getting concerned about. After the guy poked around underneath the car for
=3D=0D
a
while, tapping this, poking that he came out from under the car and said, y
=3D=0D
eah
the hanger's are rotten. I tentatively asked him how much that was going to
=3D=0D
cost and after the customary teeth whistling and hissing, he said oooh abou
=3D=0D

=A3,1500GBP (2,400 bucks), depending on how bad it is and what needs doing,
m=3D=0D

immediate though was hmm that's not too bad, unil he added, per side! Well
=3D=0D
that was almost double what I'd paid for the car and I wasn't willing to pa
=3D=0D
y
that, and decided the only course of action was to do it myself.
The rests history!
Moral of the tale is, buy the best car you can afford, with particular atte
=3D=0D
ntion
to bodywork and drive it and enjoy it! Unless of course you're one of those
=3D=0D
masochistic folks who enjoys spending hours getting dirty!
My original intention was just to repair the bits that needed doing and get
=3D=0D

back on the road asap, but like many people that have gone before me, the '
=3D=0D

for a penny in for a pound' kicks in and instead of a quick fix to get it b
=3D=0D
ack on
the road it turns into a ground up nut and bolt 'almost concours' restorati
=3D=0D
on!
I guess I've made life hard for myself, but I only intend to do this once,
=3D=0D
and if
you're going to do it, you may as well do it properly.
