Cap'n,
This has come up before and the Spit OD will not fit without mods. The conversion I saw widened the Midget tunnel with a bottle jack to fit the OD unit. The conversion also welded in a support piece as I recall. This is one reason I'm reluctant to do this. I have zero welding skills and am somewhat dubious about stretching the drive tunnel that way.
