Car painted all 4 times with Chromabase 911 red & Clearcoat. Hardtop
with Cromabase 817 white & Clearcoat.
#1 Bought car, rolling chassie, in primer, so had painted (painter #
1) 5 months & paint job 7 out of 10. (I paid for this one)
#2 Assembled car, Scratches, door chips from adjusting doors &
Bonnet, etc... (Painter # 2) (I paid for this one too)
#3 Runs in clearcoat, chips, spots on hardtop...(Painter # 3, # 2 in
jail for drugs & driving without a licence) (No charge)
#4 Runs in clearcoat & chips (Painter #3) Hardtop looks great.
Painter doesn't belive in sanding and touchup spray, gets better
results with total clearcoat respray. (I paid for paint only)
#5 Hardtop, I covered car, left fabric inpresion so I took it back
to the professional? He painted it, paint still wasn't cured so it
bubbled. He sanded it down, and painted it again, it bubbled, etc,
etc. I didn't have my hardtop for the All British Field Meet, it was
in the paint shop. Got it back the week after. Looks great, they
charged me lots, especially for their mistakes of keep repainting wet
paint. ($200 + a quart of paint($80) + clearcoat ($45)) Hardtop is
currently sitting on sawhorses and car is covered. Minor chips on
car & they painted the serial number on hardtop, but I'm waiting a
couple of years and looking a new painter.
