Hey,
I could be reading this wrong but I think this job is a three wrench/vise
thing. You must hold the tie rod in the vise - a wrench on the tie rod end
and then a wrench to break free the lock nut. The lock nut locks the end not
the rod. Get what I mean?

That's how I do it anyway.
I've got this far without a nut splitter, I think I'll persevere without
one, and
hold it back as a last resort.
