Margaret
I couldn't agree more, I wouldn't consider myself to be of 'mature' years but
I'm no spring chicken either.
I despair at the way this country is currently going, it's being ruined by inept,
corrupt politicians who are only interested in having their own snouts in the
trough, no matter what political party it is, they're all as bad as each other.
I honestly beleive this country has such serious, enormous problems, fueled
by years of 'conservative party' greed and under funding that no one political
party can hope to get a grip on the problems, let alone do something about
them.
The biggest problem this country has, which is the underlying cause of all the
others, is the sheer numbers of people living here, and its not getting better -
it's getting worse.
The health service is constantly at breaking point due to the sheer volume of
demands being made on it and not enough people paying in to support it.
Doctors and Dentists are refusing to take on any more patients due to the
already large number of people they have to see.
House prices (specifically in the south east) are astronomical, and the
governments answer to high house prices? Build more houses, pack in ever
more people into a finite amount of space and stretch the surrounding
infrastructure well beyond what its capable of servicing.
Because house prices are so high, which adds significantly to the overall cost
of living, this fuels wage rise demands, which puts up the cost of labour.
The government claims inflation is at about 2.5%, house prices go up by more
than that each year, my council tax went up by 20% this year and is scheduled
for another 20% increase next year, I wonder why workers demand higher
than 2.5% wage increases?
The police in this area claim that 1 out of 20 burglaries are solved, what
message is this giving to the people who perpetrate these crimes?
I could go on and on and on, I havent even touched on transport, the railways,
and the number of cars on the road.
The problems facing this country are severe and will get a lot worse before
they get any better.
