Hi guys
To continue the topic of front bumpers, albeit at a tangent, I recently too

front bumper and both over-riders to a small (reasonably local) company
that specialises in triple-chroming of car parts.
Now whilst my front bumper I think is in 'reasonable' condition, it has sma
=3D=0D
ll
amounts of pitting all over the chrome areas, and has some surface rust
underneath, it is straight and has no dents or dings, aside from some small
=3D=0D
depressions where the over-riders fit. Likewise for the over-riders - prett
=3D=0D

much in the same condition.
I was quoted =A3140.00 ($220 USD) for the front bumper and =A325.00 ($40USD
) ea=3D=0D
ch
for the over-riders. I also took some 'bits and pieces' like the door strik
=3D=0D

plates, door locks, boot lock and striker plate for 'clear zinc and yellow
=3D=0D
passivation' which was quoted at =A330 ($50USD) so the total was =A3220.00,
and=3D=0D
after some 'haggling' got him down to =A3200 - which was the amount I was
prepared to pay.
Bearing in mind that a new bumper costs =A395.00 ($150USD) which as I
understand it is a repro part and the chroming isnt that good, I'd rather p
=3D=0D
ay
more and have my original bumper triple-chromed.
Any comments? Do you think the re-chroming prices are about right? too
high?
If for no other reason, this at least gives people some idea of what its li
=3D=0D
kely to
cost to rechrome the front bumper and over-riders.
