OK, Ed,
The reason I used the word assumption was to indicate exactly that. It was an ASSumption, and I am well aware of what that implies.
The point is that even allowing for this, and for some likely inaccuracies in the data provided by Mr. Clausanger the estimated production does come out at least in the correct sort of time frame for my car - 3 weeks before first registration - which is a documented date. That's good enough for me as I am not really that bothered where precisely in the time/space continuum the thing first turned its wheels.
I didn't mention, mine is one of the last Sprites - only 1024 made so calculating the production date estimates is easier!
