Don
I only do it out of sheer laziness! Everyone knows who I am!
Indeed, I'm a bit like you, I think everyone is to a certain extent,
certainly when it comes to your own money.
However, I know why this happens and so do you if you think
about it, I've seen the same thing happen over here time and
time again, and yes it's annoying.
But its symptomatic of the society we live in, labour costs here,
I'm sure like those in the US are astronomical - what are good
mechanics making over there now - 50 bucks an hour?
Which is more economic - spend an hour repairing/cleaning a
seized wheel cylnder and fitting new rubbers etc or chuck it in the
bin and and fit a new one at 20 bucks? You do the math.
I've seen it happen here on my daily driver - Ford Fiesta - on the
bill - two new wheel cylinders =A3x. It's cheaper to chuck em than
spend x hours repairing them.
Same goes with your washing machine board, is it cheaper to sit
down and trace which 10 cent resistor's causing the problem,
get a new one and re-solder it, or chuck it in the bin and fit a new
one?
I'm not saying its right - I'm saying its the way it is.
