The answer to this question depends entirely on what YOU want or your
girlfriend wants.
Do you want a 62 Sprite in a new Mark III bodyshell?
Do you want an 'original' 62 Sprite?
Is resell value important to you?
Are you going to resell it?
Is originality important to you?
You need to answer these questions, to find the right answer for you. I can

guide you, I can point out the pitfalls of both ways, but at the end of the

you must make the decision based on what you or your girlfriend wants.
As a general guide to help you with your decision, I can tell you the follo

The cost of re-shelling your 62 Sprite into a new MkIII bodyshell will be
substantially more than the =A32,400 you're being quoted. That =A32,400 is
basically the cost of the bodyshell plus the doors, bootlid and bonnet. To

add a full re-spray of around =A31,500 and add on the restorer's time who w

do the swop over - at a guestimate I'd say another =A32-3,000. It's hard to

what this figure would be - but knowing garage hourly rates, I'd say it won

The other alternative is to get the existing bodyshell restored. Now it's
impossible to say what needs doing to the bodyshell because you haven't
given any details, but to get that properly restored, at a guess I'd say th

to cost you more to have the shell restored than to re-shell it. But at lea

Whichever way you go, the amount of money you sink into the car will more
than likely not be recovered when you re-sell it. The tops for nice tidy so
