Well, I watched the show, "Car Search", on the Speed Channel, and it was
very interesting. FYI, the show is about a group of people who have been
given some money to buy a collector car each week and take it to the Barrett
Jackson Classic Car Auction to see if they can buy low enough and sell high
enough to make some money in the end.
Sort of like the UK show where people take 200 pounds and buy flea market
stuff and take it to the auction and see if they make money.
In this show they looked at 5 or 6 cars to see if they thought they could
auction them off and make money in the end.
When they came to the Bugeye, they said it was one of the best and most
original they had seen (?) Who knows? It looked original and good. A 948
and it was red. The owner wanted $25,000 USD and would not come down off
his price. The group felt that price was on the high end of real, but if
they bought it for $25,000, it might not sell for more than that at the
auction. So they passed on it figuring at best, they may break even but not
make any money. I found it interesting that $25,000 was considered sort of
real.!!!
They finally settled on a 60's Cougar that was quite original and in great
shape. They paid $21,500 for it as I recall, and thought they might sell it
for about $30,000 or so.
I was shocked to see a Bugeye, no matter how good being considered for
$25,000!!!!!!!!!
Just thought some of you around the world might be interested in a TV show
with a Bugeye here in the states, and what the value is considered to be.
Cheers,
