'veering off the true and righteous path'?
I never set out to create a concours car, but I did set out to put my
car back to as original condition as I could. Originality is
important to me, not for concours reasons, but because I never
had a chance to buy one of these cars new, and now's my
chance to have an 'as new car, as the makers intended it to be'.
Having slightly polished Carb dashpot tops does not detract
from that goal, even though they were not like that in new cars, it
doesn't stop me from having them in mine!
My car may well end up being close to a concours car, but I'm not
willing to spend the extra work and money in changing perfectly
good components that look slightly grubby, just to please 'head
up their *rse' concours judges, that wouldn't know an original car
if it bit them on the ass.
Concours standards in my opinion have just got rediculous, and
to be able to competitively compete in Concours, your car cannot
be used, and must be garaged all the time inbetween shows
which in my opinion rather defeats my object of rebuilding a car
to be used.
Because I'm fastidious about returning it to it's original state,
does not mean I would compete in Concours events rather than
actually use the car for what is intended for - to be driven.
I hope you feel suitably chastised Mr Bradster ;)
