Don't be so angry, RBH....
"they" haven't lost their minds Bob, they've
just forgotten the fact Europeans were
responsible for two World Wars
in the last century and
have forgotten (obviously) who
provided the majority of the
manufacturing capacity (not to mention
some "human" help) that bailed them out....
and most especially so in the case of France.
And of course, in bailing them out, we also
bailed ourselves out for not doing so would
ultimately mean the bogeyman would
shortly be threatening our shores in
very short order, otherwise. There's every
good reason to believe FDR knew the attack on Pearl Harbor was in the offin
g
before it occurred and actually welcomed
it so we could at last "legally" take off the gloves and the hell in there
and help save
Britain, in the event.
But we were isolationist prior to WW2 (as
we were prior to WW1) and you can't go
into a World War without the vast majority
of the people behind you. Pearl Harbor
provided that "motivation".
And thus, in view of the foregoing, I could
care less what certain people think. This is our problem at this point in a
ny event.
After all, WE are the ones
who got attacked to the extent
of suffering thousands of casualties and we
already know several European governments were too caught up pursuing
their own selfish interests when certain
middle east "problems" were submitted
to the UN for action, to be concerned about
what might have been best for ALL concerned.
And that's OK....most people forget history
(and thus are bound to repeat the same
errors) and in any event, they ARE entitled
to their own opinion and their own way
of expressing it.
The fact remains, certain groups in the
Middle East have launched Jihad against
us and free societies in general (as was
stated PRIOR to the pre-emptive strike
upon Iraq) and this speaks for itself.
Free societies are uniformly "pacifist"
(not surprising considering we have
better things to do than "fight")
however, history shows free societies
do not exist except at the expense of paying
a price for that freedom....freedom is not
free and never has been.
Thing is this....as long as the US exists and
has the wherewithall to bring the fight to
the aggressors, other free societies have less to worry about, secure in th
e knowledge we will definitely come to their
aid at their request should they suffer attack, and this most definitely in
cludes
France despite our current "differences".
We are the strongest and most powerful....
"they" have to take us down before they
can take anyone else down. They know that
and will do the best they can in the world
court to "divide and conquer" accordingly.
Management does this to unions all the time...standard tactic. The Muslim E
xtremists are doing the same thing
globally.
Some of us will fall for this tactic and
others of us (older and more experienced
or better read in such matters?) won't.
Until then, disagreement is, in fact, healthy. It is, in fact, what freedom
is all about in any
event. A war of words is nothing to get too
excited about.
