My 1973 Midget occationally have starting problems. It will fire and
run for a couple of strokes, just enough to disengage the starter, then
it stops and the starter turns freely. When it starts (and keeps
running) ir runs just fine.
I have also noticed that the starter runs slower if the clutch pedal is
pressed when attempting to start.
I guess the starter may be to blame, but I am open to other suggestions
- and would really appreciate some advice on how to troubleshoot this
problem.
