I have owned both.
The 1500 was more torquey but rattled like a bag of nails when the revs
climbed. It had a 7/8" front bar that controlled excessive oversteer and
could be driven through corners quite nicely so long as you didn't loose
nerve and lift off. I drove with and without the bumbers and the only
noticable difference was it felt more "lively" with them off. It was
definately faster.
The 1275 is without a doubt the nicer engine. When the revs climb it roars
through the K & N and howls at over 5000 throgh the exhaust, and dosn't
sound as though it is about to fly into 1000 pieces as it does so. Handling
is definately sharper, turn in is better and without the same torque as the
1500 it feels less likely to let go at the rear. If it does it responds to
a flick of oppoosite lock very sweetly.
I prefer the blue one. ;-)
