Not necessarily. What year car is yours?
Later cars had a small cylindrical platic switch about the
diameter of a Bic pen with a brass spring loaded contact at each
end. This fits in a small hole in the steering wheel. They are
easily broken and it is missing you would not know what should
be in there.
