"Now that your older (like me) you just
worry more about that stuff"
"What? Me worry?" (courtesy...Alfred

Whadya mean, Jeff?!
Older? Yes, BUT...wiser!! And worrying
far less. Why, you ask?
'Cause I've learned how to get
more bang for the buck while "conserving"
to the extent possible considering the
same (more or less) perfomance level.
What you say is true about the "A" series
being bulletproof though, most especially
the 1275 variants. Good motors. And if
you're a Frank Clarici you needn't worry
about mechanicals, etc. at all! :)
I got 80K+ miles out of my Vizardized
90+hp at the rear wheels '74 Midget's
1300+ motor and it cruised all day at
4K+, including being subjected to a
20 minute run or two at between 5-6K
not to mention more than a couple of
all out street drags using 7k in the first
two gears outta 4. But it needed repairs
every so often...piston pins, clutchi, oil
pump. It got driven pretty hard, rpm-wise.
But I plan on getting a lot more miles
out of my current "hi-torque" milder state of tune (all things being
equal) as it goes so well at low and mid-range that with 5 gears, it's
working a lot less harder than
the previous motor while maintaining the
same level of performance (more or less).
Hell, it hardly ever sees anything
over 5K, spending the vast majority of
it's time at 3.2K or below, while still zipping about the premisi at a
respectable rate, even with a 3.7.
And....I don't speed (well...maybe a little every now and then:) or
street drag anymore, anyway.
In these respects, I worry LESS...about
tickets, court dates, higher insurance
rates, needless accident or injury to all
concerned, "pre-mature" repairs or
tire/parts replacement before their time,
and thus in so doing, am thereby
increasing my fun quotient over time in
terms of bucks spent. :):):)
Older, yes..but definitely wiser (in this
respect, anyway!)
