Hello there
I am trying to get some information on the dash instrument back
lighting circuit on my UK 1978 Midget 1500.
This has never worked on the car but after overhauling the wiring
system as part of a stripdown I have and taking the oportunity to
look at this issue I believe I have traced the problem to a
mysterious black cylindrical unit I cannot find any refernce to,
possibly a fuse
The offending item is a black plastic tube approximately 14mm in
diameter and 34mm long. It has a female spade connector at one end
(sunken indide the tube) and a protruding male connector on the
other. On the side it has "Pektron A75-294" there is symbol in the
middle of these two words but cannot make it out.
I have tested circuit on the voltmeter this unit and in reads 12v
however with this inplace it is less than 1. This is also the
reading I get at the dash light switch and at the bulbholders
themselves. I have tested the bulbs and they are fine.
Am I right in thinking that the problem lies in this black unit and
if so what is it, is it a fuse? and does anyone know where I can get
a replacement, I have checked both victoria-british and moss but am
unable to see it.
