Nigel,
You've removed the dust cover and the cotter pin (you call it something else)
and the castleated nut, right?
I believe you have to remove the caliper so the whole hub will slide off.
Then you take a suitable drift and drive out the bearing from the other side.
This is working from a 35 year old memory of having done this, but I'm sure
I will be corrected if necessary.
