On the 1500 there is an extra piece on the front of the inner wheelarches, that is not there on earlier cars, however it is welded onto the front original 1275 panel rather than done properly and a new panel!, this is then welded to the rear part of the front panel just outboard of the RB mountings.
I think I will just bolt it on.. the engine has to go near vertical to get it out because of the normally non removable front panel! and as I still want to fit an overdrive box (if I ever find one!) it may make life easier
