Jim-
Do not take my comments as anything other than a personal opinion
based on my research. I did talk with a couple people who have
converted their Rivergate set-up to "all Datsun" components, but also
contacted several who were delighted with the set-up, as is.
EVERYONE with the Rivergate was pleased. I honestly don't think you
can go wrong with either one. I actually like Rivergates crank seal
the best, and may well have gone the Rivergate route if delivery was
not an issue.
With respect to the Rivergate clutch setup, if you look at a Midget
pressure plate, you will find a small triangular piece that the throw-
out bearing rides on. This is removed and the Toyota t/o bearing
actuates directly on the pressure plate fingers. No machining of the
flywheel is done. With Paul A's setup, the flywheel is machined to
accept all Datsun clutch components.
I have the greatest respect for the Rivergate guys. They are first
class. It ain't their first trip to town, so set it up like they
say. My guess is you will not be able to wipe the grin off your face
for at least 10,000 miles.
YMMV.
