Do you realise that many of us seem to suffer from selective memory loss?
I am refering , in this case, to the seat material of our wonderful little
cars.
Now we are used to modern seat materials that are usually what might be
described as breathable, we have this tendency to forget what the original
seat materials were like.
For instance, if the car was parked in the sun and you sat on it wearing
shorts for example, the degree of discomfort could be quite high. ;-)
(Mini skirts, I am told, did not help particularly under these circumstances
either)
(You mean you don't remember the sixties with those lovely leggy blondes in
mini skirts .....?)
If you happened to be driving on a fairly warm day in summer, it was
necessary to put a towel on the seat first, otherwise you might find
yourself wearing rather damp clothes, or sitting in a pool of sweat.
On the plus side, they were fairly easy to keep clean, but I can see the
attraction of leather as a seat covering to retain a similar appearance
without so many of the disadvantages!
Talking about it with my SO reminded me what a good idea car seat covers of
some description were (perish the thought!)
All these comments refer to Vinyl seat covers only, of course .......
What price originality ..... Discomfort?
