And Great to drive over at night. Did it in my Mk3 Midget one April, on a
London to Edinburgh overnight run. You can really get the speed up, as you can
see when there are any other cars coming from the opposite direction (the lights
from several miles away is a dead give-away!!) Daytime is a little trickier,
though, especially if there is another car too close in front, and you need
to make a run at a steep bit.
Another steep bit is Applecross, on the Western coast of Scotland. That I
thnk is a bit steeper than Hardknot & Wrynose. It is also a lot shorter, and is
closed during heavy snow . We did that one also in the Mk 3 Midget, but only
the once. There was some snow around, and the car in front of us decided to stop
at the entrance to a small viewing area, so we couldn't get in, and had to go
straight down again. You definitely need good brakes for that one, as well as
good clutch and gears. Must try and get up there in the good weather!!
And as for Black Sheep Ale, I agree it's great. So is Old Peculiar, brewed at
Moulin, just outside Pitlochry.
