I couldn't agree more.
However, Ben is on a shoestring budget so I think buying a new
car for him is rather unlikely financially.
His best bet is to try and get his Midget as reliable as he can on
his small budget.
Come to think of it, I think we may need to send him round to
Don May's for some practical lessons on Midget ownership on a
budget! I Can see the book now - Don's Guide to Thrifty Midget
Ownership, by Don May!
Regarding wire wheels, I was rather playing devils advocate with
the Cap'n, trying to force him into explaining his reasoning as to
why wire wheels were not a practical option for a daily driver.
Sadly he wouldn't take the bait and preferred to sit on the fence!
I suspect the answer is something like you've mentioned -
anything up to 250,000 miles if looked after, but somehat less if
they've been allowed to deteriorate or have been kerbed or
damaged. Which rather contradicts what the Cap'n was saying,
but then I guess thats why he wouldn't be pushed into giving an
answer... ;)
