Thanks for the replies!
No, I was following the manual which states to check the endfloat
after installing the oil pump and retaining plate. Looks like the
manual is just plain WRONG!
I wasn't happy with the spacer idea - hence my question which I'm
glasd to say you've both answered.
So much for "reading the manual".
