I agree to a certain extent, however the first time you use your oil cooler
it will be second-hand. You will have the satisfaction that any crud that
passes through it will be yours though.!!!!
I believe if you thoroughly wash out the oil cooler with petrol or degreaser
(paraffin / kerosene at a pinch) giving it a good shake .Then flush
methylated spirit through to remove any residual liquid / muck When the
liquid is as clear coming out as it went in then all should be well. Dry it
out thoroughly blow air through it. And to be sure you can fit a further
filter in the line between the cooler and the engine for a couple of hundred
miles anyway, then change your engine filter and oil to be sure.
I would more worried of leaks than it being dirty enough to damage your
engine after this cleaning.
