Hi
1972 chrome bumper Midget. I suspect that a previous owner has nudged the
front and pushed the front bumper back but I have to work out what is disto
rted if anything.
Can someone please nip out and measure the distance between the top of the
front bumper and the curved bit of the grill trim above where the fixing bo
lts are. I have 3 cm and 2.5 cm on my car.
Also how far in front of the front valance do the bumper fixing 'rods' prot
rude. I have 4.8 and 5 cm measured from the underneath of the rods.
I have taken off the bumper mounting plates and they are so thick that if t
hey were distorted I think it would be visible. However the channels have
rust holes in them so I may well replace these; rotted from the inside. If
too expensive I will get some steel section, cut it down, grind off the ol
d channel and mig on a replacement.
BTW I have asked the MGOC about the repro spot lights and the fact that the
fixing nuts go through the mounting holes in the fixing clamps and they sa
y that this is true but that the original lamps fit OK (=A3140 a pair vs
=A330 for the repro). I will have to make stepped reducing sleeves/inserts
on the lathe.
Thanks
Terry
