Hi All,
As i slowly rebuild my 76 Midget, i have come across a slight
dilema. I am about to put the Outer sill on to the car but when i
line it up and clamp it in place the top of the outer and inner
sills meet up perfectly but at the bottom the sills are apart by
about 2 cm (3/4" in old money). It just does not seem right.
Should they meet up at the bottom? When i removed the sill there
was not this gap. I am unsure whether the previous owner had the
sill put on incorrectly. Going by the rest of the car this would
not surprise me! Do i need to fine tune the sill fillers to make
both the top and bottom meet?
I have to fix the floor as well (along with many other things!) and
have a replacement panel. Does the floor bridge this gap?
Visually it does look right with the outer sill clamped in place but
I am taking a long time to fix the car as i want to make sure that i
am doing it right. More haste less Speed! But i feally do want to
drive it NOW although it will be better when the summer arrives and
i can enjoy driving with the roof down!!
