Brad, I can't comment directly on your question, but some things I
know (or think). Weber side drafts aren't much fun to try to tune
and keep in tune. If I were going to upgrade the carbs on an A-
series, I'd go with twin 1-1/2 or a single 1-3/4 SU. Easy to tune
and parts are no problem. I did once convert an Elan from twin
Strombergs to a single side draft SK, which is basically a Weber
copy. It ran like stink, but I ended up buying many dollars worth of
jets, air bleeds, emulsion tubes, ect, because there are no
adjustments - you have to change out parts to tune. In the case of
the SK, Weber parts all fit, and Pierce Manifolds (Gilroy, CA) has
everythign in stock. Maybe the Mikuni uses Weber jets, etc too.
Pierce could tell you. Some people like the Two-barrel Weber
downdraft conversion kit on a 1275. It is also from Pierce, no
matter who you buy it from, and comes pre-tuned for a stock 1275.
About $375, I think, complete.
