Hi guys
At last I've almost finished the paint stripping/underseal stripping. What a
boring, tedious, monotonous job that was! By far the worst I've had to do so
far and I'm so pleased its now almost finished.
This does now bring into focus the filling/spraying aspect.
All of the car has now been taken back to bare metal, and I intend to spray an
acid etch primer coat on top of the bare metal, before the primer coats.
Now, the question is, should I put filler on before the etch primer or
afterwards?
Second question is, there is still a few areas of the bodywork, notably the
areas around where the front wishbones and springs fit that have rust that
cannot be easily removed. I've removed as much as I can, but I won't be able
to get back to shiny steel, nor do I intend to replace these areas, as other
than this surface rust, the structures are solid.
My intention is to paint these area's with the english equivalent of POR -
Hammerite primer - that bonds with the rust. Now, do I put that directly onto
the rust, then spray over with acid etch primer or, spray acid etch primer on
first, then paint over with Hammerite primer, or paint over the rust with
Hammerite Primer, miss out the acid etch primer and spray over directly with
primer filler?
