I don't think you should assume that just because pinstriping was not a
factory finish option here in the UK, that it was not an original option
over the pond as well.
If MG did things for the overseas markets like triple wipers, extra
indicator lights, pollution control stuff, then why not pinstripes? Hey,
they even thought of putting the steering wheel on the wrong side just to
attract extra buyers!
If not a factory finish, then it is very likely an importer's addition
rather than down to individual Yankee owners.
