Good news, my baby is sitting on the drive looking rather nice. I was goin
g to replace the outer sills my self until I was quoted =A3100 a side, incl
uding painting by a local garage. Since I am at work full time I said do i
t. That was at the begining of the year. It was done as a fill in when th
e guy was not busy, or on holiday. Then it grew to repairs to the inner si
lls, footwell side panels, a new wing, repairs to the A posts and rear wing
s, new door hinge plate when a siezed door hinge had ruined the old one. T
he paint grew to respraying both sides. Twice as the first batch of paint
was turquoise!
But I was consulted at every stage on what should be done. There is no fil
ler now it's all metal and I think it's a brilliant job for the money, even
worth the wait. Any one in Essex is welcome to look at it. He is prepare
d to do this type of work, he has an MGB and Midget to restore of his own.
I have to put on the metal stripe and the M I D G E T letters. Working on
that. If new plan works based on a template Steve is sending me I will pos
t full details.
