I think concours is an absolute and total waste of a car. The cars were made to be driven when they rolled out
of the factory, and those that still exist still have the soul of a driver (screw that VW ad "drivers wanted")
in them. In my opinion, anyone that does concours is as much a criminal as the person that leaves one to rust
to death with no intention of ever doing anything with it. Either way, it will never be driven again. I am
still buying parts for my frog, so I don't count!! The concours guy is just someone with the money to throw at
it and let it sit when done. The latter is too cheap to restore it, and too stupid to sell it to someone who
will. Now, many of those that I have met that will sell, want a restored price for a heap of shit needing a
total go through.
There is a person I met last summer, with a BEAUTIFUL car. I have seen photos of it for several years, that is
why I stopped to see it. But to the best of my knowledge, it is still not on the road. WHY? Because this, or
that, or some other thing, isn't just quite right. They had to repaint the engine, because some of the bolts
that were NOT supposed to be painted, had accidentally gotten painted. After reassembly, this was noticed in a
concours guide.
GET REAL!! I can just see the line foreman shutting the line down now. "Right lads, off to the pub with you
now, we are out of unpainted bolts for plugging that hole there. We'll make no more cars today. Off with you
now!!!"
Everyone that believes that happened.................
