Just went through the same drill with my midget, at least regarding
the brake lights not working. Check your brake light switch, which
is just forward of the pedal box. If you have a faulty (read:
leaking) MC or clutch MC, the fluid could have worked its way into
the switch. A faulty switch will not operate the lights when the
brake pedal is applied. Just another area to look at.
