Hello Colin,
Getting upper and closer personal, I am 62 (and dipping in the
Social security till), have also owned Spridgets since age 19
(bought a new '60 Bugeye), same wife for 40 (OhMyGod) years, but one
child only, now age 40, but who is a lawyer, and who left home a
long time ago, having produced three chirrens of her own.
You're right about Spridgets - some (many, actually) years ago, I
bought a very nice, straight and rust free '67 Midget, 43,ooo miles,
for $465. It needed new carpets, but that's all.
We're always glad to hear and see anything which interests you. I
suspect that you're one of the "good guys", who can always be relied
on for either solid advise, or, failing that, at least a damned good
time. Back in the mid-seventies, we had the good luck to be
assigned to work in Taiwan. Many of the close friends we made there
were expat Aussies, and delightful they were. More than once they
range our doorbell at 4 AM - "Hey, mates, let's have a party!", but
they were also fine engineers, and several of them were divers,
working on offshore oil drilling, braver souls than I.
It's unlikely, I suppose, but should you ever happen to find
yourself in these parts, the welcome mat is out. We can visit the
NASCAR shops here, or dig out a half dozen Bugeyes which are pushed
off in a ditch just up the road, or just enjoy a "slab" (is that
what you call it?) of delicious Rolling Rock pilsner.
