Jim I've always had a passion for Lotus's, but whether I'll realise a dream of =3D=0D actually owning one is another matter. If its a street car I wouldn't worry too much. You could always run 1/4 inch wheel spacers. My race car rubs like a son of a gun I've finally got it so it is only rubbing fenders instead of springs. Given the choice between a Mini, and a Midget, The Midget would win hands down every time. Yes, the Mini Cooper S was the better rally car, etc etc. but having driven both, the Midget, although less powerful, was much more fun - and it withstands the dreaded 'moth' better! R. G'day all Gotta ask - why?????? Under heavy braking, when the weight transfers to the front, the rear brakes lock up with the standard drum brakes fitted. I get slower as I get older (or so my bride tells me), but perhaps someone can explain to me why locking up the rears sooner (by using disc brakes) is an advantage. Personally, I enjoy power oversteer, but don't cherish disappearing backwards into the shrubbery under hard braking. Of course I have seen a few people fit rear disc brakes. Guess what they fit next. I purchased a 8 of 1975 USA mg midget and have been correcting what the previous owners did to ricky race it. I have talked to the mechanic the previous owners had work on the car about the things I noticed wrong after buying it. The left front end has too much negative camber, thanks PilotBob. The mechanics answer "the owners just replaced tires and did not drive fast" what he meant by fast must have been any thing over 40 MPH. The engine isn't original for the car. Hi Kelly, The e-mails are now begining to come through now, I expect the system was down for a bit, as it sometimes is. As for Midgets, mine is now out in the drive, newly serviced etc, and ready for the long haul to Scotland on Friday morning. It's about a 500 mile trip, and should take about 10 hours. There hasn't been any mention about Larry Macy's wedding on Sunday! I was there and a good time was had by all. Larry arrived in the passenger's seat of his '79 Midget, in top hat and tails. His driver was best man, Reg Kennedy. Of course, Larry caught his tail (coat tail) in the car door, so he sported a nice greasy spot all day. Larry and Theresa were married in their back yard. Hi all: I have a really nice 1964 Beach F Vee Mk 5, serial number V-16 that is monoposto legal (fan, generator, new Dunlops with z-bar rear suspension) and with two races on a fresh motor that I would like to swap for a Spridget Vintage racer (anything from spec sprite on up to an H, G or F Prod car). I have to give some background prior to my question. Last Wednesday, I was running around in my stock 65 Sprite. Cornering a bit more spirited than most, the car feels nice and in control, no worries. Next day, I am going through town, thinking to myself how good this car has been running.
