It should be rather easy to find some study on the subject on Google. I think it is just a way for big companies to separate you from a few more dollars. When was the last time you had a tire damaged to the degree it had to be replaced from the inside by oxy? I ask you! It might get better gas mileage, but I bet it would not be more than a 01% gain. Adding one psi pressure would give you that much gain in mileage IMHO. A lot of the racers around here are using it,... MORE

Stewart, You talkin' to me? Mine was Brooklands Green and although I've replaced nearly everything menchanical the car still looks like the dogs breakfast. While retaining some original color it has primer and various "Test" hues in strategic spots. My sole bright spot appearance wise is some American Racing mags a friend used to run on his H production racer. Cleaned 'em up, painted the spaces and I think they look might fine. Rick, My V6 is a GM crate motor sold for replacement of the Chevy S10 2.8L V6. It is rated at 160 hp if the stock S10 2bbl intake and cast iron exhaust manifolds were bolted back on it. With my headers and Holley/Offy intake system, I would guess mines's up toward 190 or so, but I have no dyno data. I don't know what the deal is with motors and me. I think the only things I have that have good motors anymore are the two new cars I got in December. They are good, because I purchased them brand new. Welcome aboard, Adam! I have a `78 Midget here in the states. My girlfriend-now-wife used to love it, then a baby came along, so I got a new MINI Cooper S to put the car seat in. Katie & I still do a few rallies in the MG, but now also do some as a "family" in the MINI with our 2 year-old. In a few years, I'll be taking the daughter out for spins in the MG. For now, she just loves to sit in the drivers seat, push all the buttons/switches, and have a blast "driving" her... MORE

I've been meaning to do something like mount a camera to the roll bar looking over my shoulder and take some of a pass through the gears, but haven't gotten around to it. It turns out that a large share of the noise at high RPM and throttle is intake noise into the 4 bbl. It's pretty noticeable with the top down. If I get some shot this summer I will post it. A launch in 2nd gear, breaking loose and then releasing the line lock would look pretty funny too.... MORE

I now have two original hardtops that I'm going to paint. I have a question, both tops have cracks in the gelcoat. I believe from flexing. The fibeglass is perfect, no cracks whatsoever. What I am wondering, is with those gelcoat cracks, what is the best way to get them ready for paint such that the gelcoat cracks won't propagate into the new paint. Do I need to strip it down to the bare fibeglass? What stipper works the best? Any help would be appreciated. One top will be stock to match the car, the other will be checkered... MORE

If it is the 215 ci all alloy Buick V8 then you can get MG badged rocker covers and twin SUs for it!, it is the exact same engine that became the Rover 3.5 litre V8 and powers most range rovers and the MGB GTV8 hence Moss will sell you some rocker covers with MG cast in them that will bolt striaght on the engine. Although 200BHP stock is proabbly Gross rating, not the modern DIN, probbly more like 150 if you want to use the modern ratings. Even the Twin Plemumn SD1 Rover Vitesse only had 220BHP DIN!... MORE

hi all im new here so i thought i would introduce myself. my name is David i live in Georgia . i own a 1970 mg midget that has been modified to race in autocross. it has a 2.8 chevy v6 with 12.1 comp. a solid lift .454 lift cam a edlebrock intake with a holley 390cfm carb and a 175 shot of nitrous. its fun and fast. im goin to rebuild it and put it back on the street (sleeper) . i like everyones pics and comments keep up the good work . Gerry, do you have access to a copy of Bill Price's "The BMC/BL Competitions Department"? It has several contemporary photos of MKI MG Midgets of the same period as your MKII Sprite, clearly showing no bumpers. If you can't get hold of one, let me know and I'll scan the pics for you. The Healeys tended to go in for long distance races rather than rallies, with their works Sprites, so it isn't as easy to find photos of Sprites in rally trim. Regards David "David Jacobs" 36335... G'day Do you have a roll bar in your Midget? If you don't, then don't even think about fitting the harness. I just got a sabelt three point racing harness at a british swap meet with the intention of fitting it to the stock seat belt mounting points on my 1971 mg midget. I got home and noticed a small problem. The belt that extends behind the seat to the rear point is too long. Hi all, If you were at the show today and i didn't introduce myself sorry, loaded down with bits. I was on the Midget/Sprite Club stand and there was a White Midget with Red interior and an amazing Roll Bar. It was covered in red material and had a wind shield. Well.... haven't tried this myself but no reason why it shouldn't work as advertised. I don't know whether the "competition" or mechanical race distributor curve is still available but certainly, the "40819" Cooper S curved mechanical dizzy should be right at home in this environment I would think. Emissions laws vary from state to state here in the US. In CT, they don't check under the hood unless a car doesn't pass.
