If the 1inch travel is the full distance that the pedal is able to move through, this would be a BAD thing,
And either:
the pedal is starting very close to the floor before the clutch begins to disengage,
or the pedal starts high, but is prevented from full travel by the slave cylinder piston hitting the circlip or other faults with the linkage.
