You can see if your rocker shaft is okay or not by removing the valve cover after the engine is warmed up and restart the engine. If oil is thrown all over the place or runs out of one or more rocker arms in streams then it is worn. If oil isn't thrown all over the place and only a small amount can be seen dribbling down the rockers then it's probably okay. 'Usually' if they are really worn the oil will be coming out fast enough that the drain holes can't keep up with it and you have a pool of oil in the valve cover and oil gets sucked down the valve stems. Of course you now have the head off so you will have to wait till it's back together to check your rocker assembly!!!!!!!!!!
