145sr13 tires were origonal, however this measuring system is no longer used. the
orgonal aspect ratio was approximatly 82%. This means that the side walls were 82%
as tall as the treads were wide. 145/80/13 tires are a good approximation, and will
lower the ride hight a little and have the origonal tread width but can be hard to come
by in america (not a problem in england longstone tyres is a good source). It is
possible to fit 155 or even 165 series tires but you must keep in mind that the aspect
ratio (the middle number) is critical in making sure they fit your wheel wells. This
means that you could try 155/75/13 tires or 165/70/13 tires to get more tread
without getting too high off the ground. Personally I would reccomend the 155/75/
13 (I used 155r13's for yers and I liked the extra tread but I hated how tall they were).
Any wider than 165 and you would need wider rims.
