Hello all, I'm looking for information on how the emissions controls are configured on a 77. Specifically how the Air pump & EGR valve are setup. Right now on mine the air pump feeds though a check valve directly to a connector on the tail end of the exhaust manifold. Did that year have a diverter or gulp valve? The EGR valve is missing. Did it have one? How was it hooked up? There is an elbow connector on the air intake manifold that isn't hooked up to anything. I've been looking at pictures of engines on the web,... MORE
Thanks for all the feedback guys. Gerard, what you are saying about the first motion shaft continuing to spin makes sense as when the clutch is disengaged it sounds like there is still a lot of spinning of the gears in the transmission when I try to shift into first while at a dead stop. The car is still on a non-op registration so have not had a chance to take it out for any higher speed runs to see if things loosen up. Don "Don May" 24461... MORE
LOL, Colin..."I knew that"! :) You're gonna say, "Yeh,....sure, right!" but I knew this was the Fright...I'd know the knockoffs and "flare" treatment anywhere! This car has a special place in my tiny brain 'cause I was going to graft a bugeye glass rear clip on my '67 which came with a BE bonnet and the Fright had appeared in Classic Sports Cars (I think I have the title right?) and was to be the "example" of what I was planning before my '67 met it's demise. Roger I very much agree with what you're saying! I think Concours has become rediculous. Partly because judges cannot possibly know the details of every car they're judging and partly because almost every car now being entered into Concours events are now 10 times better than they were when they left the factory, yet they hang onto this judging criteria that the cars should be as they 'left the factory' ! Hi guys: I am still in the process of repairing my 1979 midget 1500.got my new carpet kit in and since I do not have any carpet in my car, could someone recommend a site for good, clear pictures of the interior of a later midget? I want to make sure I get the carpet pieces in correctly. If you did carpet kits, what did you use for adhesive? Did you also use snaps or just the adhesive? In California the law is the wheels of a car with a non-operational registration status are not allowed to touch any road surface either while moving or parked or towed with wheels touching the road. I now have a no fee permit that allows me one day to move it from one location to another. If I did not have 55 miles to travel in heavy freeway traffic with no back roads only 55 miles of city streets and traffic I would not bother with such silly rules. Now that my blue 63 has been sold to someone who loves it dearly I bought a purple 73rwa to keep my yellow 74rwa company however the 73 will sport a bugeye bonnet and a color change. Paper work was a bit of a hassle owners and buyers who did not report the sales so the DMV needs a paper trail in order to transfer title to me but think that is all in place now. There hasn't been any mention about Larry Macy's wedding on Sunday! I was there and a good time was had by all. Larry arrived in the passenger's seat of his '79 Midget, in top hat and tails. His driver was best man, Reg Kennedy. Of course, Larry caught his tail (coat tail) in the car door, so he sported a nice greasy spot all day. Larry and Theresa were married in their back yard.
