If my memory serves me correctly, your car is a Mk2 Midget with the dual master cylinder. This means that if you lose fluid from the brakes, the clutch stops working properly and I think this is the first thing to check. The chances are, if you can't see fluid leaking anywhere, that the rear wheel cylinder could be faulty. I hope that I am wrong but have a careful look.
