When I was an apprentice at the Lockheed Brake Co in the 70's. we each had
to make a brake pipe flaring tool as part of our machining tests. Not that
difficult but getting the angles and radius correct on the tip was the diff
icult part.
Years later I resurrected the drawings (originally 1950ish )and had a full
set made for the R&D department where I was working at the time.
We had tons of different fittings, miles of different diameter Bundy tube,
bending jigs and of course access to all the drawings of all the tubes we e
ver made on British cars. And of course access to the Exp.fitters to make u
p the same.
A whole cars worth for the price of a packet of fags (cigarettes).
I wish I could go back in time for a couple of days knowing what I know now
(except I'd take the lottery numbers with me and I'd now be driving a Ferr
ari, LOL)
