Let me start by saying if there are no leaks and the fluid level in the MC dosen't drop, I would suspect your MC.
That said, does your brake warning light come on when you turn the ignition on? If it dosen't then the switch is centered. When either the right or left brakes fail the internal shuttle is push to one side or the other to seal off the side which has lost pressure and when it does it activates the switch and the dash light comes on. If your light is on after bleeding the brakes you have to 'equalize' the system. You do this by doing a bleed on one side. If this dosen't center the switch then bleed the other side. You have to do this with the ignition on and watching the warning light. As soon as it goes out stop pushing the pedal and immediately shut off the bleed screw.
This switch/valve WILL NOT cause your brakes to go soft. It will allow only one side to operate if not centered. If I remember correctly, after you do a bleed the brakes are okay but after sitting it gets spongy. Two things can cause this, a leak somewhere or you MC seals aren't sealing after they sit for a while and let fluid return to the reservoir while you are pushing on the pedal. Hence no real pressure buildup. Without a leak this is what must be happening.
