WEBER DCOE "air" screws
They are not air screws. They are volume
screws, the mixture for the idle circuit having been pre-set by your choice
of idle (air/fuel combo) jet.
1.5 turns "out" is merely
a starting point for setting. You may find
your particular choice of idle jet
runs best at only 1 turn out or even less.
If you cannot find a setting which will work,
you will have to change the idle jet for a
less rich (weaker) one which may either
consist of a smaller fuel aperature OR
same fuel aperature with a larger air
aperature.
In other words, the first of two above para-
graphs suggests 1.5 turns out is too much
of what the chosen idle jet produces as a
mixture. In other words, too much of what
you have.
The second suggests what your current idle jet is producing as a mixture is
incorrect (too rich).
You may find it much easier to set this circuit with a CO meter as "progres
sion"
(to the main circuit) is also involved in the
choice of idle jet (mixture) or volume setting (amount of said mixture).
SPEEDO-METER!
My speedo indicator also "wobbled" before
it quit completely. Gearbox lubrication and
plastic drive gear replacement time (this
was worn as well).
Cleaned out the speedo gearbox, filled
it with molygrease, replaced the plastic gear, replaced the assembly on the
transmission, re-attached the cable,
turned the key and drove off into the sunset at a "smoothly" indicated 40 m
ph! :)
